A federal judge in New York sentenced a self-styled revolutionary to 45 years in prison for bombing buildings as a member of the underground United Freedom Front, which opposes apartheid and U.S. policy in Central America. U.S. District Judge Leo Glasser ordered Ray Luc Levasseur, 38, to serve 40 consecutive years for four bombings and one attempted bombing and five more years for his role in the conspiracy to bomb military and corporate sites.
