Clouds to Clear in Time for Warm, Sunny Weekend
Cloudy skies are expected to clear today, just in time for warmer, sunnier weekend weather.
According to National Weather Service forecasters, a low-pressure system that kept clouds hovering over San Diego County much of the week should depart today.
A building high-pressure system will move in, fostering fair skies, warmer-than-average temperatures and drier air through Sunday.
Humidity should drop to about 55% along the coast and morning clouds should burn off by about 10 a.m., forecaster Wilbur Shigehara said Thursday. He predicted earlier clearing through the weekend.
Temperatures should reach the 70s at the beach, where afternoon sea breezes are expected to reach 15 m.p.h. from the west to southwest.
Coastal strip temperatures were forecast to climb into the high 70s over the weekend, with nighttime lows in the 50s.
The ocean water temperature hovers at 63 degrees.
Inland valley highs that have struggled to reach the 70s this week should reach the 80s by Saturday, with lows of 48 to 54 degrees.
Desert highs may break 100 over the weekend, Shigehara said, and lows are expected to be in the 60s.
Mountain highs between 72 and 80 degrees during the day may dip into the 30s at night. North-to-northeast winds of 15 to 25 m.p.h. are forecast for both mountain and desert areas.
