Gonzalez Pitches San Fernando Past Carson in 4-A, 6-1
Junior Gonzalez scattered five hits and struck out nine to lead San Fernando High to a 6-1 victory Friday over Carson in a first round City 4-A baseball game at San Fernando.
Gonzalez, who improved his record to 3-1 with a complete game, allowed only one walk--to leadoff hitter Eric Davis. Davis subsequently scored Carson’s only run when Gonzalez threw wildly in trying to pick him off third.
San Fernando came back with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, then scored two in the third and three more in the fifth to break the game open.
Marcos Castillo and Chris Gonzalez, the first two hitters in the San Fernando lineup, led a nine-hit attack for the Tigers. Castillo was 2 for 3 with a walk and scored two runs. Gonzalez was 3 for 4 with an RBI and also scored twice.
