Associated Press
TLAXCALA, Mexico — A group of convicts armed with makeshift knives and spears broke out of the Tlaxcala State Penitentiary during roll call, and three of them were shot to death by security guards, the prison warden said.
Seven other inmates were reported to have escaped in the Monday night incident. One prison guard was injured but not seriously.
Warden Benito Moya said the breakout occurred when the prisoners were lined up in the yard for roll call.
