The Region : Night Stalker Suspect Sued
The families of two people allegedly killed by “Night Stalker” suspect Richard Ramirez have filed what are believed to be the first civil suits against the suspected serial killer. The families of Patty Higgins and William Doi, who were killed in their homes in 1985, seek unspecified damages in the Superior Court lawsuits. Higgins, 32, had her throat slashed last June 27 in her Arcadia duplex. Doi, 65, was shot in his Monterey Park home last May 14. His widow was also assaulted but survived. Ramirez, 26, has been ordered to stand trial on 14 murder charges and 31 other felony counts stemming from a brutal crime spree last year in Los Angeles County. The drifter from Texas has pleaded innocent and faces trial Sept. 2.
