Memories of Kate Smith, U.S. First Lady of Song

I was so saddened at the news of the wonderful Kate Smith’s death. I can remember running home from school just so I could tune in the last few minutes of the Kate Smith show. Her pleasing personality and genuinely caring interviews and introductions of her guest caused me to fall in love with this “First Lady” of American song.

And the way she belted out her closing song each day filled me with total delight. The noise that fills our airwaves each day called music cannot even come close to the beautiful music people like Kate Smith created. I’m so glad I bought those two albums of hers a couple of years ago for they now become one of my personal treasures.
