Doctor Glut

Regarding Daniel Greenberg’s column “What’s so Bad About A Doctor Glut,” (Editorial Pages, June 24), it is steeped in the usual nonsense. However, two things are apparent. One is that given the quality of medicine in the U.S. vs. the rest of the world we’re not perfect ---- but we haven’t done too badly either (until the tinkerers started).

Secondly if being the only industrialized nation to do something differently is basically wrong as the column would indicate, then let’s start a campaign to eliminate the contingency fee which probably in total costs the average citizen 10 times his annual health costs.
