California Rep. Robert K. Dornan (R-Garden Grove) delivered a letter to Syrian President Hafez Assad from 251 U.S. legislators requesting help in freeing Americans held hostage in Lebanon. After meeting in Damascus with Foreign Minister Farouk Shareh, Dornan said he obtained a pledge that Syria will do all it can to help. Five Americans are believed held by kidnapers in Lebanon.
