Costa Mesa : Couples Get a Second Chance to Say ‘I Do’
Couples who have enjoyed 50 years of marriage deserve a chance to do it all over again, organizers of the Orange County Fair have decided. So a golden wedding ceremony will be held July 17 at the fair.
Twenty-six couples have signed up so far, said fair spokeswoman Sue O’Shea. Couples who have been married at least 50 years and are interested in taking part in the ceremony can call (714) 751-FAIR.
The renewal of the wedding vows will take place in the floriculture building, where the flower and garden show is held. The cost to participate is the fair admission price.
After 62 years of marriage, Jeannette and Frank Spiegel are one of the longest-married couples who will attend the ceremony. Jeannette’s advice to the newly married? “You got to learn how to give and take a little,” she said
The fair will open Friday and run until July 20.
