The World : 4 Mengele Allies Charged
Criminal charges have been filed against two couples who sheltered Nazi war criminal Josef Mengele during the 18 years that he lived in Brazil, federal police in Sao Paulo said. Hungarian immigrants Geza and Gita Stammer and Austrian immigrants Wolfram and Liselotte Bossert are charged with lying to authorities about Mengele’s identity and with harboring an illegal alien. Remains of a body identified as that of Mengele, known as the “Angel of Death” at the Auschwitz concentration camp, were exhumed last year from a grave near Sao Paulo.
