Anaheim : Tenant Shoots Man He Says Was Prowling
Scott Bradley Miranda, 23, of Anaheim was in custody Wednesday after an apartment resident said he shot and wounded a man who was prowling outside his bedroom, police said.
The resident, who was not charged in the shooting and whose name was withheld by police, told officers he had heard noises outside his window about 2:30 a.m. and, armed with a gun and flashlight, had gone to investigate.
After confronting someone hiding in bushes at the South Laxore Street complex, the resident fired twice when the man rushed him, according to Lt. Jack Parra.
The wounded man tried to flee but was captured and held for police by other apartment residents armed with baseball bats, Parra said.
Miranda was taken to Humana West Anaheim Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds in the arm and shoulder and was transferred to the UCI Medical Center jail ward, where he was being held on suspicion of burglarly, Parra said.
