Countywide : Motorcyclists Can Now Use Car-Pool Lanes
The car-pool lanes on the Costa Mesa Freeway will be now open to single-passenger motorcycles, the Orange County Transportation Commission has decided.

Beam, chairman of the Transportation Commission’s Route 55 Advisory Committee, said the new regulation is consistent with federal law, which considers motorcycles fuel-efficient single-rider vehicles.
The car-pool lanes were designated six months ago under a one-year trial period to ease congestion on the Costa Mesa Freeway during peak commuter hours.
