Trailer Breaks Off, Killing Motorist
NORCO — A flatbed trailer broke loose from its tractor and smashed into two cars Tuesday, killing one person and injuring two others.
The truck was heading south on Hamner Avenue, across the Santa Ana River bridge, when the trailer broke loose and crossed into southbound traffic, Norco Fire Chief Herb Jewell said.
Hamner Avenue, which serves temporarily as Interstate 15 through Norco, was closed for 2 1/2 hours by the accident, Officer Mike Devine of the California Highway Patrol said.
Gloria Dolores Crabbe, 56, of Ontario was freed from her car but later pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passenger, Wilma Thompson, 75, of Ontario, suffered back, neck and possible internal injuries.
