Redskins Sign USFL’s Kelvin Bryant
CARLISLE, Pa. — Kelvin Bryant, the United States Football League’s second all-time leading rusher, signed a four-year contract Wednesday with the Washington Redskins. The contract reportedly is worth $3 million.
Redskin owner Jack Kent Cooke said the running back is the “link in the chain” to return the Redskins to the Super Bowl.
Bryant, 25, led the Philadelphia-Baltimore Stars to two USFL titles while establishing himself as a premier all-purpose back.
Bryant passed his physical with the Redskins Tuesday and participated in team drills late Wednesday. He will not play in Friday’s exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He said he will be ready to play next week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
