FBI Cracks Theft Ring Aimed at Antique Shows

MIAMI — The FBI said Wednesday it cracked an interstate theft ring that targeted wealthy buyers at antique shows, then assigned specialized “hit” teams to carry out armed robberies and burglaries. Three people were arrested and two others surrendered.
The ring dealt in the theft and fencing of “millions of dollars” of antique silverware, Persian rugs, gold coins, jewelry and other valuables, said William E. Wells, special agent in charge of the Miami FBI office.
