The Nation - News from Sept. 11, 1986
A reported incident involving Robert Redford and a customer of a Santa Fe, N.M., ice cream shop was denied by the actor, a spokesman said. “I spoke to him (Redford) this morning and he said that it never happened,” said Reid Rosefelt, unit publicist for the “The Milagro Beanfield War,” a movie Redford is producing and directing on location north of Santa Fe. The shop’s manager said that Redford had visited his store but he could not confirm the incident. The Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper reported that a woman who spotted Redford at the shop tried to be cool. But after leaving the store, she thought she had forgotten her cone. Upon returning, the story said, Redford told her she could find it in her purse where she had put it.
