Organizers of a relief airlift to an estimated 2 million famine victims in embattled south Sudan said they have ended a dispute with the Sudanese government and will begin operations Wednesday. Under the agreement, they will fly food and medical supplies to the government-held towns of Malakal and Juba but not to besieged Wau and rebel-held Yirol, as they earlier proposed. The United States, the Netherlands and Canada are contributing to the $1-million, “Operation Rainbow” airlift along with several relief groups. The rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Army is battling the Khartoum government in southern Sudan.
