Silicon Systems, Cirrus Logic in Pact to Make Computer Circuits

Silicon Systems Inc. of Tustin said that it has entered into an agreement with Cirrus Logic Inc. of Milpitas in which the companies will jointly provide original equipment manufacturers with integrated circuits normally used in Winchester Disk Drives.

Though complete details were not disclosed, a statement from Silicon Systems said that the two companies will exchange controller and buffer manager functions for computers and that the terms of the agreement involved the manufacturing and marketing rights for those functions. The two companies have also agreed to work together on future developments. A company spokesman added that no specific dollar value could be put on the contract.

Both Silicon Systems and Cirrus Logic manufacture computer components.
