TV Appeal Made for Hostages
BEIRUT — Lebanon’s state television station today broadcast a videotaped appeal for the release of American hostages made by their families and former U.S. captives that was seen on the evening news in Muslim West Beirut.
Ten relatives and former hostages participated in the appeal. Among them was Father Lawrence Martin Jenco, who was freed June 26 after being held 19 months by Islamic Jihad. Jenco addressed himself to Haj, the Islamic Jihad guard who had been in charge of him and the three hostages still held, Terry Anderson, Thomas Sutherland and David Jacobsen.
