Sportsmanship awards were presented to Newbridge School and its athletic director, Bill Ruehl, by Jim Campanis of the Los Angeles Dodgers community services staff. The awards are co-sponsored by Adohr Farms.

Enrico Montano, 17, shot a one-over-par 72 to win the Rancho Park Golf Course Junior Club championship. Justin Manacher, 16, was second with an 83.

Joseph Kim and Max Riedel, students at Hollywood’s Faulkner School of Fencing, finished one-two in the prep section of a U.S. Fencing Assn.-sanctioned foil meet at Los Angeles Valley College. Jeffrey Russell of Culver City’s Salle Gascon was second in men’s C level, and Melinda McKee of Salle Gascon was fourth in women’s C level.

Charles Bennett of Studio City shot a hole-in-one at Rancho Park Golf Course. Aces were fired at Rancho’s nine-hole layout by Roosevelt Brown of Culver City, Julius Turner of Beverly Hills, Norman Efros of West Los Angeles and Chuck Leinback of Santa Monica. Pat Browne of West Los Angeles scored an ace at Penmar.

Dick Park won the senior championship in the Penmar Men’s Golf Club’s September tournament. Flight winners were Danny Valenzuela in A, Art Durschlag in B, John Mahoney in C and Seymour Holtz in D.
