Flood of Illegal Aliens

In commenting on the Oct. 15 article, (“Telegram on Illegal Aliens by Romney is Condemned,”) as a resident of Pauma Valley/Valley Center in North San Diego County, I feel that Clyde Romney is right on the mark. If the gentlemen from San Diego, Herman Baca and Jess Haro, would take a drive up to North County any weekday morning to East Vista Way near Ormsby in Vista, for instance, or to Encinitas’ main streets they would witness “gangs,” crowds, mobs, large gatherings, of Mexicans hoping to be picked out of the crowd for a day’s work. They camp out in the chaparral, their cooking fires have set many a brush fire, their living conditions are next to intolerable.

In certain areas of Valley Center, the residents are indeed besieged by the presence of men camping in the groves near their homes; privacy and security are regularly breached. One family whom I know personally is afraid to leave their teen-age children at home alone because of the men who hang around the property, look in the windows, etc.

If Mr. Baca and Mr. Haro take exception to Mr. Romney’s choice of words, let them put their efforts into restraining the flood of Mexicans who have no hope of getting regular jobs, most of them, and become dangers to each other as well as to the rest of the population.

I am a grower who depends for labor on some of the fine men who come back year after year from south of the border. I trust them completely. I hate what is happening as the entry of great numbers of illegal aliens becomes a public health and safety problem.
