‘Poison’
In the same edition of your newspaper in which President Reagan was trying once again to defend his “Star Wars” dream, there appeared this advertisement from I.Magnin, announcing a new Christian Dior product:
“Introducing Poison at I.Magnin, the silent potion that has swept away half the world. Potent. Complex. Bewitching. The mysterious orchestration of scents embodying new personalities with the passage of hours. Beyond recognition, the fragrance that casts a unique spell on each who dares to indulge.”
A perfect description of the President’s SDI snake oil: potent, complex, bewitching and . . . poison.
