More Soviet Munitions Wash Ashore in Florida
MELBOURNE, Fla. — More munitions have washed up on Florida’s eastern shoreline--this time a metal case containing five Soviet-made rocket-launching fuses, officials reported Sunday.
Doug Phipps, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County sheriff’s office, said that a couple found the case Saturday on the northern shore of Palm Beach County.
Since Oct. 18, 47 rocket fuses, six cannon shells and three rocket-propelled grenades have been found washed up on beaches in Palm Beach, Martin and Brevard counties. All the explosives were turned over to an Army bomb-disposal unit.
