Lakers Waive Turner, Reach 12-Man Limit
The Lakers reduced their roster to 12 players, waiving 5-foot 10-inch rookie guard Andre Turner, a third-round draft pick from Memphis State who averaged 5.5 points and 4 assists in the Lakers’ six exhibition games.
Although the Lakers are down to their 12-man limit, they don’t have 12 healthy players. Forward A.C. Green, who has a torn ligament in his left thumb, is out for at least two weeks, and the club might put him on the injured list and acquire another power forward.
“I’ve had some conversation about acquiring a player,” Laker General Manager Jerry West said, “but it’s tough with our (salary cap) situation. Even getting an average (big man) is tough. We still might do something.”
