Geri Gainey Will Attend Fresno State

Geri Gainey, a 5-foot, 7-inch senior guard from Mater Dei High School, made a verbal commitment Monday to attend Fresno State on a basketball scholarship.

Gainey averaged 16 points and 3 assists a game last season for the Monarchs, who were 20-7 and advanced to the second round of the Southern Section 4-A girls’ basketball playoffs, where they lost to Fountain Valley.

She will be joining her sister, Mary, who is redshirting this season at Fresno State after transferring from Chapman College. Gainey is expected to sign a national letter of intent on Nov. 12.
