Cable TV Group Formed

The city has formed a Cable Television Access Foundation and will appoint a separate 13-member advisory board to promote development of programs for broadcast on the public access cable television channel serving the Palos Verdes Peninsula. There are about 5,500 subscribers in the city and a few in Rolling Hills and Rolling Hills Estates, city officials said.

“We want much more community-based programming,” said Tom Bandy, community services director. “We are trying to negotiate use of a building to build studios so we (can) train the public in using equipment and how to go out and make a video and edit it.”

Foundation officers are members of the City Council. The council in January will appoint nine people to the advisory board. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District and the Palos Verdes Library District each will appoint a member and there will be two non-voting members: a representative of Times Mirror-Dimension Cable Co. and the city manager.
