Security clearances for 69 workers, including four in a security patrol, at the Hanford nuclear reservation in Richland, Wash., were revoked in the last two years because of alleged drug abuse, a top official said. Mike Lawrence, operations manager, said, however, that drug abuse is not a significant threat to safety at the reservation, which produces plutonium for nuclear weapons. A court document charges illegal drugs were hidden in radioactive areas and employees refused to cooperate in the probe.
