Three Jamaican policemen were shot to death by heavily armed men who hurled gasoline bombs into their station in a slum section of Kingston, and authorities said the attack seemed to have been “more criminal than political in nature.” Witnesses said six men carrying M-16 semiautomatic rifles and other large-caliber weapons made off with the slain officers’ revolvers and took other firearms and an unknown quantity of ammunition in the predawn raid. A fourth officer escaped uninjured.
