A top aide to Rep. Mario Biaggi (D-N.Y.) called the federal Small Business Administration in 1981 on behalf of Wedtech Corp., which was retaining Biaggi’s former law firm, the New York Times reported. Biaggi defended the action. Wedtech, a Bronx defense firm, is being investigated by the U.S. attorney’s office and the Manhattan district attorney and the Justice Department is considering appointment of a special counsel to investigate former White House aide Lyn Nofziger, who reportedly lobbied on behalf of Wedtech.
