USC basketball Coach George Raveling said that there is a question about guard Dave Wiltz’s eligibility and that Wiltz will not play in the Pacific 10 opener Saturday against Washington State at Pullman, Wash.
“In going through the files for the eligibility forms,” Raveling said, “we received a high school transcript on him that didn’t have a grade-point average. The transcript has to be sent to the NCAA for interpretation.
“Before he can play, we have to wait for that interpretation. I’m 100% optimistic that it’s going to be fine, but we don’t want to forfeit any games because of a technicality.”
Wiltz hasn’t played recently because of a leg injury. He attended L.W. Higgins High School in Marrero, La., and later played for Delgado Community College in New Orleans before transferring to USC this season.
