Directors of Michael Brandman Associates Inc., a Costa Mesa environmental research and planning firm, have split the post of president and chief executive officer, promoting Thomas E. Smith Jr. to president and retaining Michael Brandman as chief executive.
Smith, 39, of Walnut was the firm’s executive vice president and continues to handle the chores of that post plus responsibilities for business development in Southern California and southwestern United States. His former position will not be filled.
Brandman, 40, of Orange directs the administrative and financial operations of the company and controls contract performance on projects in east Orange for the Irvine Co. His company, founded in 1982 with eight employees, now has 45 employees.
