Husband Suspected in Home Fire
A man angered by a quarrel with his estranged wife poured gas into a broken bedroom window of her Lennox area home and ignited a fire that sent the woman running for safety with the couple’s two small daughters, authorities said.
Neither the two girls, 2 and 4 years old, nor their mother was injured, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Jones said.
Valerie Belton, 24, told investigators that her husband, Frederick, 25, started the fire after an argument, Jones said. Arson investigators were looking for the man, who lives in Inglewood. County firefighters quickly doused the flames. Damage was $2,000, Jones said.
