Local News in Brief : 11-Year-Old Girl Injured When Crash Ends Spin in Family Van
An 11-year-old Van Nuys girl took her younger sister for an ill-fated ride in the family van Wednesday morning, crashing into a tree six blocks from her home, Los Angeles police said.
The girl told authorities that she was kidnaped by a man who came to the front door, snatched the van’s keys and took her and her sister, said Sgt. Ted Hanson. The girl’s parents were asleep at the time, about 11:45 a.m., he said.
But a neighbor told police that the girl was driving the car, Hanson said.
The 11-year-old girl suffered a cut lip, he said. Her 4-year-old sister was not hurt. The children were later returned to their home on Ventura Canyon Avenue, Hanson said.
