Local News in Brief : Sun Valley Driver Dies in Wrong-Way Crash
A wrong-way driver died Thursday evening after striking an oncoming car and a parked tractor-trailer in Sun Valley, Los Angeles police said.
David Ramirez, 53, of Sun Valley, was pronounced dead at Serra Memorial Health Center at 7:05 p.m., an hour after he drove the wrong way on the northbound lanes of Vineland Avenue, Officer Robert Rowe said. He struck another car just north of Arminta Street, Rowe said.
The driver of the northbound car suffered only minor injuries, Rowe said.
Investigators had not determined why Ramirez was driving on the wrong side of the street, Rowe said.
