Bernhard Gstrein led a surprising Austrian sweep of the two top places in the men’s combined slalom at the World Alpine Ski Championships in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. American Felix McGrath finished third.

Gstrein, who has not won a World Cup race in two seasons on the circuit, was timed at 1:42.45 for the two runs. Teammate Guenther Mader was next in 1:44.48. McCrath, of Norwich, Vt., was third in 1:44.48.
