The basketball team of the College of Staten Island has been barred from playing in postseason tournaments because of the team’s part in a fight that “had racial overtones,” school President Edmond Volpe said.
He said that an in-house investigation had determined that race was involved in the fight at a home game Dec. 30 with Potsdam State. The College of Staten Island is predominantly white.
