One of a group of people accused of submitting false Medi-Cal claims totaling more than $700,000, Frances Robertson Bennett of Compton, has been sentenced to two years in prison for her role in the scheme. Atty. Gen. John Van de Kamp said the group recruited people to generate phony claims for lab tests, X-rays and electrocardiograms, although none of the Medi-Cal cardholders had been examined or referred for lab services by doctors. Others involved in the scheme either have pleaded guilty and await sentencing or await trial.
