A man who was cross-country skiing in Big Cottonwood Canyon died Sunday after he was buried in an avalanche, officials said. The 30-year-old man had been skiing with his wife, but she had taken a separate path and was not in the area when the avalanche hit. He was buried for more than 45 minutes before rescuers were able to dig him out.
