Santa Margarita Selects Hartigan
Jim Hartigan, an assistant coach at Mater Dei High School for the past three seasons, has been named head football coach at Santa Margarita High in Mission Viejo.
Santa Margarita, a new Catholic high school, is scheduled to open in the fall with a freshman class.
Hartigan joined the Mater Dei staff as an outside linebacker coach in 1984 after coaching football, wrestling and track in a walk-on capacity at University High. He graduated from University, where he competed in football, wrestling and track, in 1978.
Hartigan played defensive back at Cal State Fullerton, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in physical education in 1982.
