Lazers Trade Garcia, Kavanaugh
The Lazers acquired defender Steve Pecher and forward Dan Ebert from the St. Louis Steamers Friday for forward Poli Garcia and rookie defender Jim Kavanaugh.
Ebert, 28, joined the Steamers in the 1980-81 season and was the team’s No. 2 scorer this season. Pecher, 31, had been with the Steamers on and off since the 1979-80 season.
Garcia, 29, had been with the Lazers since they joined the Major Indoor Soccer League in 1982 and is the team’s all-time leading scorer. The two-time All-Star also played a season with the Cleveland Force.
Kavanaugh, 23, had played only sparingly after being chosen by the Lazers in the first round of last year’s MISL draft.
Ebert and Pecher are expected to join the Lazers for their game against the Tacoma Stars Sunday night at the Forum.
