Henry Taylor; Mormon Church General Authority
SALT LAKE CITY — Henry D. Taylor, Mormon Church general authority emeritus, has died at age 83.
Elder Taylor worked as an accountant for a real estate company before accepting a call in the Eastern States Mission. He was Connecticut District president and later served as mission secretary. Taylor, a bishop, stake president and chairman of the regions of the Church Welfare Plan, was head of the California Mission when he was called into general church service.
He had served as a general authority since April 6, 1958, when he was named assistant to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Council of the Twelve. Taylor continued serving as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy from Oct. 1, 1976, until he was given emeritus status two years later.
Taylor died Tuesday.
