The Region : Fisherman Severely Bitten by His Prey
A Fountain Valley man was injured by a fish he was trying to catch. Lou Wiezai, 71, was aboard a sport fishing boat 250 miles south of the tip of Baja California when a large wahoo--a carnivorous game fish of the mackerel family that can weigh 100 pounds or more--leaped out of the water and sank its razor-sharp teeth into his arm, cutting it to the bone. Wiezai, a diabetic, was bleeding profusely when he was moved to a Mexican military base on Socorro Island, where a Coast Guard Falcon jet with a medical technician picked him up for a flight to a hospital in San Diego.
