KIDS VOTE FOR ‘KARATE KID II’
“The Karate Kid, Part II” will be announced today as the favorite movie in Nickelodeon cable’s first “Big Ballot” voting, involving youngsters under 17 years of age. Eddie Murphy and Whoopi Goldberg are also winners as favorite movie performers.
The winners will be saluted on a special broadcast of “Rated K: For Kids by Kids,” airing on the cable channel at 4 p.m. today (note: some Southern California cable systems carry Nickelodeon programming three hours earlier on a live feed from New York).
Results of voting for television favorites will be announced on “Rated K” next Saturday, with music choices coming up April 11 and sports winners named on April 18.
Ballots were available to youngsters at 1,000 toy, sporting goods and music stores around the country.
