Al Nipper of the Boston Red Sox...
Al Nipper of the Boston Red Sox was informed by Commissioner Peter Ueberroth Friday that he has been fined for hitting Darryl Strawberry of the New York Mets with a pitch in an exhibition game March 14. The Red Sox also were fined for failing to control Nipper’s actions. Amounts of the fines were not announced but were believed to be $300 for Nipper and $1,000 for the club.
