Prime Computer introduced a new machine.

The company said the new super minicomputer, the 6350 system, will execute up to 11.8 million instructions per second. Prime also unveiled its “dual processor” version, the 6550 system, in which two tightly coupled processors within a single computer will allow it to attain processing speeds of up to 23.6 million instructions per second. Other features of the 6350 system design include capacity for a main memory of 64 megabytes and a subsystem designed for support of up to 64 disk drives, each with 770 megabytes of storage. Both the 6350 and 6550 systems will support up to a maximum of 960 users simultaneously. The 6350 is available now, and the 6550 system will be shipped by year-end.
