Pilots Eject Safely After Two Navy Jets Collide

NORFOLK — Two Navy jets collided off the Florida coast Tuesday afternoon, but the pilots of the F-18 Hornets ejected safely and were rescued by helicopter crews, a Navy spokeswoman said.
Lt. Jeffrey Penfield, 27, and Lt. Charles Boyajian, 26, both of Mandarin, Fla., escaped with “bumps and bruises,” said Cmdr. Jolene Keefer. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
