Controlling City Growth
The argument preferred by Shapiro favoring the Bradley plan vs. the Yaroslavsky zoning plan is based on the presumption that community leaders are more honest than our City Council members.
I have difficulty with this reasoning because, in my view, lobbyists have as much if not more access to community leaders as they have with council members. With this discretionary power in the hands of our elected officials we have more overt accountability along with the right to “turn the scoundrels out” if they cease representing our interests.
Can we say the same thing about our furtive community leaders?
