Orange County Community College Softball : Saddleback Starts Fast for Win
Saddleback College scored five runs in the first inning and four runs in the third to defeat Citrus, 9-1, in an Orange Empire softball game Friday at Citrus.
Pam Sawyer went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Lori Methot went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to lead the Gauchos.
Dina Graham, Toni Sukrob and pitcher Patty Taylor each went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Saddleback.
Taylor (22-4) gave up four hits and struck out three for the Gauchos (13-3, 29-8).
Rancho Santiago 1, Cypress 0 (10 innings)--Joyce Lyman (18-3) had a no-hitter through nine innings and struck out five for the Dons at Rancho Santiago. Catcher Terina Franklin singled in Christi Kalehuawehi in the 10th inning for Rancho Santiago (14-2, 26-7). Cypress is 8-8 in the conference.
In a South Coast Conference game:
Fullerton 3, Pasadena City 2--Tracy Smith drove in the game-winning run in the fourth inning for the Hornets at Fullerton. Annette Gonzales (9-2) allowed four hits and struck out four. Traci Smith saved the victory.
Golden West 9, Mt. San Antonio 0--Kathy Fogg (13-6) recorded her 10th shutout of the season and Heather Smittle hit a two-run home run for the Rustlers (7-4, 23-14).
