Community College Softball : Lyman Throws Sixth No-Hitter
Joyce Lyman pitched her sixth no-hitter of the season as Rancho Santiago College defeated Riverside, 8-0, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game at Rancho Santiago Wednesday. Lyman (19-3) missed a perfect game when she hit a batter in the sixth inning.
Sandy Martinez extended her college-record hitting streak to 11 games with a single in four at-bats for first-place Rancho Santiago (15-2, 28-7). Terina Franklin went 2 for 2 with a double and a triple, scored two runs and had two RBIs. Melanie Schuler was 2 for 3.
Saddleback 5, Orange Coast 1--Debbie Hardwig had a two-run double in the fifth for the Gauchos at home. Kelly Decker hit a two-run single for Saddleback (14-3, 30-8), which scored its runs in the fifth.
Cypress 7, Citrus 1--Noel Parker (15-15) struck out 10 for the victory and had an RBI single in the Chargers’ five-run sixth. Sue Boxley was 3 for 4 with a double for Cypress (8-8, 17-19).
