Dead Man Granted 2nd Chance to Win Primary in Illinois
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A mayoral candidate who died after filing suit to nullify results of the city’s Democratic primary will get another election chance posthumously, a judge has ruled.
Judge C. Glenn Stevens of St. Clair County Circuit Court on Monday upheld a suit co-filed by Clyde C. Jordan, who died April 23 of cancer, and scheduled a new primary for July 14.
If Jordan wins in that balloting, the executive committee of the East St. Louis Democratic Central Committee will select a nominee to replace him in the general election, the judge said.
